Our Story
A Proud Beginning – Since 1872
Cricket in Helensburgh has a long and proud tradition, dating back to 1872. Just as the town was beginning to grow into a vibrant seaside destination, a group of local enthusiasts came together to form Helensburgh Cricket Club. Matches were first played at Ardencaple, a beautiful ground that remains our home to this day, nestled at the foot of the Argyll hills.
Part of a Sporting Family
Today, the cricket section operates as part of the wider Helensburgh Cricket and Rugby Football Club, offering opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. Our cricket family includes a flourishing Under 14s squad, a committed 1st XI, and a developing 2nd XI, all competing within the Western District Cricket Union (WDCU) structure.
Cricket for Everyone
We are proudly inclusive and community-focused. Whether you’re a junior taking your first steps in cricket, an adult returning to the game, or a regular league player, there is a place for you at Helensburgh. Our qualified coaches support both skill development and enjoyment at every level, ensuring cricket remains accessible, welcoming, and fun.
A Club with Heart
At Helensburgh, cricket is more than just a sport — it’s about friendship, teamwork, and shared experiences. Our match days bring people together, both on and off the field, building lasting bonds and continuing a legacy of over 150 years of local cricket. The values of respect, sportsmanship, and inclusion lie at the heart of everything we do.
