Lomond/ Helensburgh’s U15 team faced an Allan Glens/ West of Scotland select at Ardencaple on Sunday on a heavy pitch after overnight rain.

The home side started well, amd a strong break from midfield let Ellis dive through the defensive cover to get the opening try, converted by Lewis.
The visitors hit back despite some stout defence, and fourtries before the half, three of them converted, gave them a commanding 26-7 lead at the half hour mark.
In the second half, the Burgh boys upped their game and came back hard, with some strong rucking and tackling giving second row Connor the chance to burst through several tackles up the left hand touchline, almost from halfway, to get the score.
Again, the visitors came back and got their own score, breaking down the strong defence Burgh were putting up.

The home side didn’t let that deter them, and some fantastic team play let them work the ball from left to right, with the offload releasing Lewis to sprint over in the right corner, with him adding the extras himself to bring Burgh to within 12 points of Glens/ West.
Unfortunately the comeback wasn’t to be, as the visitors finished off the game with the final try to make the final score 38-19 to the away side.
It never seems as if the final score in rugby matches at this age tells the story of the games, and this was a closely contested match, with some fantastic play from both sides, and the 12 all score in the second 30 minutes was probably a more accurate reflection of how tight the match was.
Man of the Match for Burgh was prop Declyn, with multiple strong tackles, great support play, and some excellent ball carrying, gaining lots of ground for his team.
